Greetings to all my curious subscribers out there.

This is a hell of a July, don't you agree? And no air-conditioning to cool our desperately seeking shade bodies.

First, I want to update you on a few projects I’ve been focused on lately.

Number uno the "No Phones Party." I probably should have better named it ... "No Visitors Party." It was a monumental failure, really. A recurring lesson for me is that I tend to stray far from the spiritual commitment I made when I decided to dedicate myself to this unique studio/gallery/school.

Thank God I am not a stranger to disappointment, so I took it with a sense of humor. The one positive thing about this experience was discovering that my talented student Graeme is a very committed chess player and friend, and we had some epic chess games on the day, and in the end I finally emerged victorious...sorry mate, you were truly spectacular.

"Numero due" (Italian for "two") was my glorious dream of an Art Academy. For this I spend a considerable amount of energy and time, but there were some serious issues, a kind of a repeated pattern in my Life. My overwhelming creative, artistic, and intellectual ambition can be truly terrifying to those who are uninitiated. This occurs when a project becomes so large in your mind that it is logistically impossible to manage.

The other issue is that it becomes very difficult for others to follow your thoughts as your dreams gradually turn into abstractions. Projects like these required an early start and lots of time, people, and money to complete. I took, often in the distant past, ginormous projects just out of visionary ambition, but it isn't my path.

The power I possess is just enough to create my artwork, run my small business, and inspire my few students. I must achieve contentment in my current situation, or I could face serious challenges. The ability to tackle big projects is indeed in my genes, and though I can envision so much, this gift has instead been passed to my younger brother. God bless him. It’s a mystery, folks; that’s all I can say.

On the bright side, I have delved deeply into the nature of Art and many of its secrets. I plan to share my findings when they can aid your artistic development, whatever that means to you.
